I have been a very busy bee these past few weeks for a number of reasons, the biggest being the lastminutedotcom syndrome from which I have been suffering for most of my life. I do, however, have a couple of news I would love to share.
The first one is that I now have a new item in my wardrobe worth mentioning. My recent wardrobe reorganisation revealed a huge gaping hole: I did not have a single skirt! This has now been fixed and I am a proud owner of this lovely pleated number:
I am also happy to report that the two designs I have sneaked into my earlier post have now been photographed. As my fairy tech-editor is working her magic on my patterns and I am gearing towards publishing them (hopefully soon!), I thought I could, in the meantime, engage in showing off my brand new handmade clothing.
Here is my Summer 2016 garment #1, ta-da!
It is a lacy oversized top, featuring a bateau neckline, straight sleeves cutting just below the elbows, and a slightly cropped boxy silhouette (something I keep seeing around a lot lately – do you?).
The fabric is a crochet imitation of polka dots, which, once again, demonstrates the wonderful possibilities of this craft:
I am sure I am going to get a lot of wear out of this top. I have mixed feelings about pairing it with the skirt though as it seems this oversized top requires something more fitted at the bottom, while the floaty skirt needs some waist definition. So I will continue looking for perfect partners for both of them.
Will be showing piece # 2 in the next post. See you then!
